About JARI
Japan Automobile Research Institute (JARI) is a comprehensive research institute that carries out basic surveys, research, and technology development, as well as testing and evaluation of technology related to automobiles. JARI was established in April 1969 as a comprehensive research institute related to automobiles, as the successor to an automobile high-speed proving ground, which was established in 1961.
Research
JARI carries out research primarily in the three fields of environment, safety, and mobility, and our cutting-edge research anticipates the needs of society five to ten years down the road, thereby helping to create a sustainable, safe, and secure mobility-based society.

R&D Service
JARI's research, testing, and evaluation technologies, together with its testing facilities, leverage its technological expertise. It has established a system for assessing research and testing needs, deploying equipment and devices, and accepting R&D work on consignment.
The Shirosato Test Center (Shirosato-machi, Higashiibaraki-gun, Ibaraki Prefecture) and the Jtown Automated Driving Test Center (Tsukuba City, Tsukuba Prefecture) meet a wide range of needs.
